PIG CATTLE IN ECUADOR

Pigs contribute with a wide variety of products and by-products such as: meat, fat, bones, bristles and skin. The most appreciated product is its meat and derivatives: chorizos, sausages, salami, longanizas, ham, pork cheese, etc., which are processed industrially and artisanally, generating sources of employment and ventures. 59% of this type of cattle are found in the Sierra Region, while 37% and 4% correspond to the Coast and Amazonia respectively. In the case of pig sales, they have the same trend as their stocks, since 58% of sales are made in the Sierra, followed by 36% on the Coast and finally only 6% in the Amazon.

The existence of this type of cattle is concentrated in its vast majority in the provinces of the Sierra Region approximately 95%, 4% belongs to the Coast, and barely 1% to the Amazon.
