SHEEP CATTLE IN ECUADOR

Sheep are made up of sheep, these animals offer milk and meat. Additionally, with their wool they contribute to the manufacture of cloth, thus promoting the textile sector nationwide. The existence of this type of cattle is concentrated in its vast majority in the provinces of the Sierra Region approximately 95%, 4% belongs to the Coast, and barely 1% to the Amazon. In the case of sheep, sales maintain the same trend as their stocks, since 97% of sales are made in the Sierra, followed by 2% on the Coast and finally with barely 1% in the Amazon. Chimborazo and Cotopaxi are the provinces with the largest number of sheep cattle, corresponding to 31% and 27% respectively, between these two provinces they exceed 50% of the national total, that is, 269,671 heads. PIG CATTLE IN ECUADOR

Pigs contribute with a wide variety of products and by-products such as: meat, fat, bones, bristles and skin. The most appreciated product is its meat and derivatives: chorizos, sausages, salami, longanizas, ham, pork cheese, etc., which are processed industrially and artisanally, generating sources of employment and ventures. 59% of this type of cattle are found in the Sierra Region, while 37% and 4% correspond to the Coast and Amazonia respectively. In the case of pig sales, they have the same trend as their stocks, since 58% of sales are made in the Sierra, followed by 36% on the Coast and finally only 6% in the Amazon.

BEEF CATTLE IN ECUADOR

 Nationwide, bovine cattle are distributed: 69% females and 31% males, it is important to emphasize that the 18% of the total livestock corresponds to births and 3% to deaths that occurred this year. Among the different transactions you carry out in 2019 exists there are 5% purchases and 12% sales of this type cattle. The sierra region has 52% of cattle, covering the largest amount nationwide, 40% and 9% correspond to the Coast and Amazonia respectively. As relevant data, Manabí has 930,153 head of cattle, this represents 21% of the national total and 54% of the coastal region. Azuay ranks second with 329,670 units, that is, 8% national and the 15% at Sierra level. LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION

In the period 2014 - 2019, the production of cattle covers 66% of the total livestock production, while pigs and sheep an average of 21% and 7% respectively, the difference is distributed in the rest of species: donkey , horse, mule and goat. The total number of heads of cattle of the different species has been decreasing, mainly from 2014 to 2015, a decrease of 12.4% is registered, from 2015 to 2016 of 7.9%, from 2017 and 2018 a decrease of 1 %. The outlook for this sector improves from 2018 to 2019, in this period the livestock sector has an increase of 4.5% in the number of cattle. The species that have increased their stocks the most in percentage variation to 2019 are: sheep and goats with 108,746 and 6,646 heads, with a growth of 30.6% in each compared to 2018.

The livestock sector is important in the development of  the country's economy, middle of this sector can generate new industries and businesses in turn new sources of employment with processing of its derivatives as: meat, milk, wool, bristles, among other. According to the Central Bank of  Ecuador – ECB, the sector agriculture, livestock, forestry and fisheries contributes to National GDP 9.63% with $9,626,014 thousand dollars. According to the Saiku system of Internal rents service - SRI, there are 156,060 numbers RUC dedicated to the activity of livestock, of which 62,478 are active.
